Ovechkin’s assist helped Washington defeat Tampa in the NHL match

The match of the regular season of the National Hockey League (NHL), in which the Tampa Bay Lightning hosted the Washington Capitals, has ended. The result of the game was the victory of the guests with a score of 5:3.

The goals for Washington were scored by Connor McMichael (a brace), Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Anthony Mantha and Rasmus Sandin. Brandon Hagel, Nick Paul and Tyler Mott scored for Tampa. Russian forwards for the Capitals and Lightning, Alexander Ovechkin and Nikita Kucherov, each provided one assist. Ovechkin extended his scoring streak to 10 games in a row for the first time since 2018, and Kucherov consolidated his lead in the NHL scoring table with 95 points.

This victory allowed Washington to rise to ninth place in the NHL Eastern Conference standings – the team has 60 points. Tampa has five points more and is eighth in the East. In the next round, Washington will play against Florida, and Tampa will meet with the New York Islanders.
