On Sakhalin, an electrician will be convicted of cheating with meters for 67 million rubles

The Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk City Court is studying a criminal case involving damage caused to a large energy company in the amount of more than 67 million rubles. The charge was brought against a 62-year-old electrician who, according to investigators, carried out fraud in the summer of 2012 that reduced the amount of electricity used by more than 35%. The news agency SakhalinMedia writes about this, citing the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sakhalin region.

The defendant received a position as an electrical technician in a company that is engaged in the retail trade of food products. According to preliminary information, no later than June 2012, the accused supplied meters with secret design changes to the transformer substations of the holding. They operated until May 2021 and reduced energy consumption.

A criminal case was opened on the grounds of Part 2 of Art. 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. At the moment, it has been transferred for consideration to the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk City Court.
