Nature Food: Scientists have named foods that if you avoid them can prolong your life

Foreign researchers analyzed the diets of a large group of British people and came to clear conclusions. According to their data, certain changes in nutrition can increase human life expectancy by as much as ten years. The journal Nature Food reports this.

Studying information from participants British biobank, researchers noted that people who revised their diet and got rid of harmful foods after 40 years lived significantly longer than those who continued to eat food typical of the Western lifestyle.

The most dramatic results were seen in those who completely eliminated processed meats and sugary drinks, instead increasing their intake of whole grains, fruits, vegetables and nuts. People who follow this principle lived on average ten years longer than their peers.

The researchers emphasized that it is never too late to make changes to your diet for the sake of health. Even giving up junk food later in life, such as around age 70, can extend your life by five years.
