The Moscow Department of Media and Advertising has introduced a ban on the use of QR codes on billboards, public transport stops and some other structures. RBC reports this.
The corresponding instruction was sent to distributors of outdoor advertising in the capital on December 7. The reason for this decision is the increased risk of hacker attacks, since QR codes working as Internet links can direct to “content that can be changed,” which, in turn, may contain information that violates the Law on Advertising.
Violation of this order entails administrative liability, the capital department emphasized.
Earlier it was reported that State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev commented on the initiative of the chairman of the lower house of parliament Vyacheslav Volodin, who proposed introducing restrictions on the use of resources of foreign agents for advertising purposes.
