Ministry of Industry and Trade: the manager of Maag “New Fashion” wants to localize production in the Russian Federation
The New Fashion company, which manages the Maag stores that replaced Zara in Russia, wants to localize the production of collections in the Russian Federation and is negotiating with clothing factories. About this in an interview with RIA Novosti told State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Evtukhov.
“As far as I know, now New Fashion is progressively developing further and is negotiating with clothing factories about localizing the production of collections in Russia,” he said.
Evtukhov also noted that the opening of 242 new stores on the premises of departed brands increased the traffic of the shopping centers where they are located.
The Inditex group (brands Zara, Bershka, Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti and Stradivarius) suspended operations in Russia on March 5, 2022. In October, the group agreed to sell the Russian business to its Lebanese franchisee Daher Group, and soon after there were more than 240 stores locally Inditex opened points under the names Maag, Ecru, DUB and Vilet; they are not related to the Inditex brands.
