Mikhail Khazin: The dollar will cease to be a world currency

Russian and foreign economists continue to closely monitor the economic processes taking place in the United States.

According to a number of experts, the world economy is approaching a critical point, after which serious transformations will follow.

Economists express doubts that the US national currency, the American dollar, will be able to maintain its leading position in the world.

At the same time, their opponents continue to link the development of the world economy with the stable position of the United States.

Own point of view on this issue to the Public News Service presented economist Mikhail Khazin:

The dollar must exist. As long as there is a United States of America, there must be a national currency. This is a dollar.

Indeed, in years past there was talk of the end of the Pax Americana and the collapse of the “Empire of the Dollar.” Some say that these predictions do not come true.

But now everyone is writing about the end of Pax Americana. As for the decline of the “Empire of the Dollar,” in this case we mean the destruction of the world dollar system.

The dollar, indeed, will remain as a US currency, perhaps it will become regional, but not global.
