Nicolas Maduro, the president of Venezuela, spoke about an attempt on his life during a rally in the capital, Caracas. He stated this on air on the Venezolana de Television channel.

The head of state’s speech took place at a rally of thousands in the Diego Ibarra square some time after his candidacy was included in the electoral lists to participate in the 2024 presidential elections. Maduro stressed that the people who were preparing the assassination attempt on him were detained during the march of his supporters on the eve of the rally.

“Today here two armed men were preparing to assassinate me. The detainees admitted that they belonged to the no longer existing far-right, fascist party Vente Venezuela,” said the current Venezuelan president.
