Lavrov and Kim Jong-un met in Pyongyang
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un met in Pyongyang on October 19. About it reports Russian Foreign Ministry.
TASS with reference to the department clarifiesthat the negotiations lasted a little over an hour. The Foreign Ministry did not disclose the details of the conversation.
At a press conference following a two-day visit to the DPRK, Lavrov noted that the republic is a close neighbor and long-time partner of Russia. “We are unanimous in the opinion that the progressive development of bilateral relations meets the interests of our states and contributes to the strengthening of peace and security in Northeast Asia,” he emphasized.
Lavrov arrived in Pyongyang on October 18 on an official visit to coincide with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and the DPRK. In addition to meeting with Kim Jong-un, Lavrov also held talks with North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hui. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs notedthat the ministers paid special attention to the implementation of the agreements reached during the meetings of the leaders of Russia and the DPRK on April 25, 2019 and September 13, 2023. In addition, Lavrov invited Choi Song Hee to visit Moscow.
