True friendship between Russia and the DPRK is “heating up”, and more and more attention is being paid to the relations between the two countries, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“Now, after our meeting with the President [РФ Владимиром] Putin in Russia in September of this year, the real friendship between our countries is heating up, there is a very good atmosphere, and our people pay great attention to the relations between our countries. It’s very nice that I’m meeting you in such a situation, Comrade Minister,” he emphasized (quote according to TASS).
On October 18, Lavrov arrived in Pyongyang for a two-day official visit. The minister noted that Russia highly appreciates the “principled, unequivocal support” of the DPRK in conducting a special operation in Ukraine and the recognition of the entry of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into the Russian Federation.
The leader of the DPRK came to Russia on an official visit on September 12-17. He held talks with Putin at Vostochny on September 13. Following the results of Kim Jong-un’s trip, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that it was “timely, useful and constructive.” The Kremlin emphasized that Russia will continue to develop relations with North Korea.
