The president Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called his country the successor of the Golden Horde. He stated this during a speech at the national kurultai, Nur.kz reports.

Tokayev stated that Kazakhstan is the direct successor of the Golden Horde. He noted that the geopolitical legacy of the Golden Horde served as the basis for the emergence of a number of Eurasian states, including the Kazakh Khanate.

At the same time, the Ulus of Jochi, like the Roman Empire, set development standards for the states and peoples of the Great Steppe for centuries to come.
