IT expert Gulevich: Paid application subscriptions can quietly write off money

Director of the information security competence center T1 Integration, Viktor Gulevich, warned about subscriptions in applications that can, unnoticed by the user, debit funds from his account. He added that if such a program is removed, money may continue to be debited.

“They cannot be called malicious – they do not steal data and do not eavesdrop on conversations. However, while promising unique opportunities, they only provide additional and not always justified costs,” the Prime agency quotes an expert as saying.

Gulevich noted that most often such programs offer several free days to try out advanced features. He emphasized that if the user realized that he did not need paid functions, he must first cancel the subscription in the account management settings and only then delete the application itself.

Earlier, the director of the IT-Reserve company, Pavel Myasoedov, said that fraudsters often use vulnerabilities in bank applications on phones to steal funds from people’s accounts. More about this read the material Public News Service.
