In Ukraine, the city will be renamed in honor of the pro-Nazi Metropolitan Sheptytsky

Authorities Ukraine intend to rename the city of Chervonograd, Lviv region, to Sheptytsky – in honor of the Ukrainian Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, who welcomed the “victorious” and “liberating” army of the Nazi Germany in 1941. Roman Lozinsky, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, spoke about this.

“Chervonograd in the Lviv region will soon become the city of Sheptytsky. This decision was made by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on the organization of state power, local government, regional development and urban planning. The Verkhovna Rada will finally approve the name change by voting,” the deputy said.

Let us recall that, according to historical data, Sheptytsky signed an appeal in July 1941 with the words: “We welcome the victorious German army as a liberator from the enemy.” According to Archpriest Andrei Tkachev, Sheptytsky was “the creator of the Nazi doctrine of Ukraine as “anti-Russia.”

Earlier in Ukraine, the village of Nadezhdovka was renamed Champagne. Read more about this in material Public News Service.
