In Ukraine, a student “conned” a woman out of a large sum by posing as a conscript

A student of a law enforcement higher educational institution in the Dnepropetrovsk region, pretending to be a mobilized man, defrauded a city woman of 800 thousand hryvnia.

According to information from the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine, the criminal created a fake male profile on a dating site and began to actively correspond with her victim on behalf of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is clarified that from time to time they even talked on the phone. When asked about the strange voice, the “guy” explained that he had undergone vocal surgery as a child.

Then the scammer said that she was in a war zone, for this reason she was not able to write often, but she promised that she would send gifts to the woman through her own niece. The niece turned out to be the attacker herself, who began to regularly bring gifts to the girl.

At a certain point, the false militant said that he was seriously injured in the Bakhmut area and needed money for an operation. The girl, having borrowed more than 800 thousand hryvnia (about two million rubles) from relatives and friends, sent them to the swindler’s account.

Law enforcement officers detained the suspect and she was taken into custody.

Previously, a resident of Yekaterinburg named Vyacheslav outwitted the scammers, earning a small amount of money. More about this read the material Public News Service.
