In Kyiv, a monument to the Red Civil War commander Nikolai Shchors was dismantled, Strana.ua reports. To demolish the monument, it was necessary to cut off the hooves of the horse on which Shchors is depicted.

The publication notes that the horse’s hooves, made of cement, were inaccessible for extraction, which led to the need to saw them off.

Already in March, Ukrainian Minister of Culture Alexander Tkachenko announced the possible demolition of the monument, while proposing to preserve the horse, considering it a work of art.
