In Kyiv, Bulgakov Street was renamed in honor of Kikabidze

The Kyiv City Council decided to rename the street of the writer Mikhail Bulgakov, a native of Kyiv, in honor of the Georgian actor Vakhtang Kikabidze. This was stated by Vladimir Bondarenko, secretary of the Kyiv City Council.

According to him, such a renaming is necessary to get rid of names that “influenced the distortion of the national consciousness of Ukrainians.” He stressed that such a policy will continue, since in Kyiv there should be “no names left associated with Russia, its Soviet and imperial past.”

In addition to Bulgakov Street, Belgorodskaya Street, the Alexander Blok Library and Yablochkov Lane were renamed. Let us remember that Vakhtang Kikabidze has long supported Ukrainian nationalists, and also condemned the Russian special operation in Ukraine.

Earlier, the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko announced the renaming of Vozdukhoflotsky Avenue in honor of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Read more about this in material Public News Service.
