Earlier in the day, October 14, the Louvre Museum announced about its closure due to several reports of bomb threats. This happened the day after an attack on a school in the city of Arras in northern France. As a result, a literature teacher was killed and three people were injured, including another teacher and a security guard. According to BFMTV, the attacker was a 20-year-old young man who had previously studied at this school and was included in the list of alleged radicals of the French Ministry of Internal Affairs. It was reported that he shouted “Allahu Akbar” when attacking with a knife.
Against the backdrop of what is happening, the French Ministers of the Interior and National Education, Gerald Dermanin and Gabriel Attal, demanded that security around educational institutions be strengthened. French President Emmanuel Macron went to the scene of the incident.
In Arras, after the attack on the school, they decided to cancel the events planned for the weekend. French authorities said they would deploy up to 7,000 Sentinelle troops and declared a state of emergency in the country.
