In China, scientists have developed an analogue of the Neuralink implant from Elon Musk, which returned part of the motor abilities to a paralyzed patient. This was the first case of successful implantation of a neuroimplant in China designed to restore mobility.
Previously, Musk announced a successful procedure for implanting an implant from Neuralink, designed to control limbs using the power of thought through a smartphone or computer.
The first patient to be tested in China was a man who was left paralyzed after a road accident in 2010. The chip, the size of two coins, was implanted in the fall of 2023, and after three months of training, the first positive results were achieved.
The neuroimplant is considered less invasive than Musk’s implant, and its potential includes enhancing the cognitive abilities of paralyzed people in the future.
