In Cameroon, a pregnant woman who was bitten by a poisonous snake managed to give birth to a child before she died. News of the incident was published in the medical journal The New England Journal of Medicine and reported by the New York Post.
The woman was bitten by an epha, a poisonous snake from the viper family, when she was seven months pregnant. After the bite, she began to experience serious complications such as vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain and contractions.
Doctors found a low platelet count in her blood and diagnosed coagulopathy caused by epha venom.
The woman was given an antidote, but after a few days her bleeding increased and she went into labor. Despite all the difficulties, on the third day of her hospital stay, she gave birth to a healthy boy weighing 3.4 kilograms. Later, the patient’s condition worsened and doctors were unable to save her.
Earlier, an accident with a truck occurred on the Sverdlovsk highway; a girl died. More about this read the material Public News Service.
