As a child, Kuraev lived for several years in Prague, where his parents worked. The former archdeacon said that “there are still classmates there from school” and “a scooter has already been bought in the name of one of them,” so “there won’t be a problem with a car with Russian license plates.”
In April 2023, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ deprived Protodeacon Andrei Kuraev of his holy orders due to “destructive activities” and lack of signs of repentance. Before this, the protodeacon was given two years to “rethink his position and return to the path of the Church.”
