Former head of the Vasileostrovsky district of St. Petersburg Ilyin was detained in Moscow

The former head of the Vasileostrovsky district of St. Petersburg, Eduard Ilyin, suspected of corruption crimes, was detained in Moscow.

According to the Fontanka publication, the former official was arrested by officers of the economic police of St. Petersburg on February 6 in an apartment belonging to his acquaintance.

It is assumed that Ilyin will be taken to St. Petersburg.

In December 2022, Ilyin was fired and a criminal case was opened against him on charges of accepting a bribe. Later, the former official was arrested in absentia, as his whereabouts remained unknown.
