One of the most significant events in the world of culture started at the Russian Museum. Right in front of visitors, experts are restoring Karl Bryullov’s painting “The Last Day of Pompeii,” TASS reports.

Next year the museum will host a large exhibition dedicated to the artist’s anniversary. For the first time in its almost 200-year history, “The Last Day of Pompeii” will be restored. Museum visitors will witness this event.

“We decided that people who come to the Russian Museum should not be deprived of a meeting with the main masterpiece and pinnacle of the work of the great Charles,” the publication quotes the words of the museum’s general director Alla Manilova.

During the exhibition, museum visitors will also be shown Bryullov’s painting “Christ in the Tomb” for the first time. In total, the exhibition will present more than 300 paintings by the artist. More details in material Public News Service.
