According to the expert, a number of stores may not accept new banknotes at first, since sellers may not be sure of their authenticity. At the same time, she assured that there are no legal reasons for refusing to accept official banknotes.

Valishvili advised to beware of scammers who may pretend to be social workers and offer pensioners to exchange money by exchanging real banknotes for counterfeit ones.

In addition, scammers may ask Russians to “verify the authenticity” of money by asking them to download a special application that is actually spyware.
