On the night of September 28, a strong explosion occurred at a warehouse in Tashkent, after which a fire started. About it reports Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan.
The incident was reported at 02:43 (00:43 Moscow time). It is clarified that the warehouse is located on the territory of the Stroitel massif in the Sergeli district and belongs to Inter Logistic LLC. 16 fire brigades were involved in extinguishing the fire.
The cause of the fire was a lightning strike, the department said in a statement. At the same time, the Ministry of Emergency Situations denied the information that the fire in the warehouse occurred as a result of a plane crash. The premises are located near Tashkent airport. The press service of Uzbekistan Airports emphasizedthat the incident “had no impact on the airport’s operations.”
At 05:02 (03:02 Moscow time) the fire was localized. The Ministry of Emergency Situations added that rescuers continue to extinguish the fire, and the area of the fire is shrinking. The department did not initially specify the area of the fire.
In the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan reportedthat the victims of the explosion were taken to the hospital. Their number is not given. They noted that so far there have been no patients with severe injuries. In the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic statedthat information about the area of the fire and the number of victims is being established.
