Investors from Canada had to remove or sell their businesses and investments from Russia, as the government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau forced them through political pressure, Russian Ambassador to Ottawa Oleg Stepanov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to him, the Canadian administration is purposefully pursuing an anti-Russian policy, causing damage to its own businessmen. Nevertheless, many of them wanted to keep their assets in the Russian Federation.
“The largest companies, which until recently remained committed to developing business in Russia, were forced to announce the suspension of operating activities or sell Russian assets,” Stepanov said on the eve of Diplomat’s Day, celebrated on February 10.
Earlier, Stepanov noted that the Russian Federation submitted a request to the Canadian leadership regarding the extradition of ex-SS soldier from the Galicia division Yaroslav Gunko. Read more about this in material Public News Service.
