Aargauer Zeitung: Three million smart toothbrushes attacked a website

The authors of the Aargauer Zeitung newspaper reported a DDoS attack carried out by hackers using smart toothbrushes in Switzerland. Cybercriminals have hacked smart devices around the world and used their power to launch a cyberattack on the website of an unnamed Swiss company. The site was unable to cope with numerous requests, causing it to crash.

The head of the security company Fortinet, Stefan Zuger, said the following: “Every device connected to the Internet is a potential target or can be used for attack.”

DataBank’s chief information security officer added that many smart home electronic devices can be hacked, and also complained that these devices are not properly protected.

Earlier it became known that a hacker accused of carrying out DDoS attacks on the critical information infrastructure of the Russian Federation was arrested in Moscow. The hacker was arrested in December and his prison term was recently extended to May 12 by a court decision. More about this read the material Public News Service.
