A wanted criminal who trafficked people was detained in Spain

Spanish law enforcement authorities announced in a press release that members of the National Police have apprehended one of Europe’s most wanted criminals involved in human trafficking.

According to the statement, National Police agents detained a man in the city of Deltebre (Tarragona), who is wanted by Romanian authorities for crimes related to human trafficking, trafficking in minors and crimes against the person.

Romania has issued a European arrest warrant for the man, who has been hiding for 15 years in Deltebre, north-eastern Spain, using a false identity and working as a real estate consultant, according to reports.

The man was handed over to Romanian authorities and faces up to 10 years in prison.
