A bill has been introduced to the State Duma that provides for a simplified procedure for obtaining a residence permit (residence permit) for foreigners whose ancestors lived within the borders of modern Russia. Document published on the legal information portal.
The explanatory note to the document states that now the right to obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner can be granted to foreigners permanently residing in the Russian Federation, whose relatives in the direct ascending line permanently resided within the borders of modern Russia. However, they do not have the right to obtain a simplified residence permit
The bill proposes to give them the right to obtain a residence permit without the need to obtain a temporary residence permit, thereby providing a simplified path to Russian citizenship.
June 22 State Duma accepted in its final reading, a bill according to which foreigners who enter into a contract for military service in the Russian Armed Forces or military formations for one year, and their families, will not need to obtain a temporary residence permit to obtain a residence permit.
